Everything gearing, under one roof
From cutting gears up to 160 inches to heat treatment, assembly, and full metrology — Overton Chicago Gear controls every step of manufacturing in house.
Big-gear capability, tight-tolerance control
Few gear shops can cut a 160-inch gear to AGMA 11 and inspect it to the same standard. Fewer still can do it without outsourcing a single step. We can — because cutting, milling, heat treatment, and metrology all live under our roof in Addison.
That vertical integration means shorter lead times, complete traceability, and one accountable partner. When your equipment is down and every hour counts, it is the difference between waiting and running.

Six disciplines, one facility
Gear cutting
External and internal spur, helical, bevel, and worm gearing in diameters up to 160 inches, cut to AGMA 11 on our Höfler 2400 — without the need for grinding.
5-axis milling
Large-envelope 5-axis machining centers cut complex gear geometries, housings, and components to tight tolerance in a single setup.
Heat treatment
In-house carburizing, hardening, and tempering — including one of the largest press-quench operations in North America to control distortion on big gears.
Gear metrology
A complete inspection lab verifies lead, profile, pitch, and runout to AGMA, ISO, and DIN standards, with full documentation on every job.
Gearbox assembly
Complete custom gear drives designed, machined, and assembled with our own precision gearing — including duplication of obsolete units.
Reverse engineering
No print, no problem. We digitize worn or broken gears and remanufacture exact replacements to get critical equipment back in service.
From print to finished gear
Spec & engineer
Bring a print, a sample, or a performance target — our engineers define the gear geometry and material.
Cut & machine
We rough and finish-cut the gearing on our 5-axis and dedicated gear-cutting equipment.
Heat treat
Carburizing, hardening, and press-quenching build in the durability heavy loads demand.
Inspect & ship
Our metrology lab verifies every critical dimension before the gear ships, documented and ready to run.
